Begin your first day by exploring some of the most fascinating temples of the Angkor region, combining both grand historical sites and hidden gems.
Start your morning at Pre Rup Temple, a 10th-century Hindu temple built during the reign of King Rajendravarman. Known for its impressive brick structures and elevated pyramid design, the temple offers beautiful views and serves as a perfect introduction to classical Khmer architecture.
Continue to Neak Pean, a unique and peaceful temple located on a small island in the center of an ancient reservoir. Surrounded by water, this site represents harmony and healing, offering a calm and refreshing atmosphere.
Next, visit Preah Khan Temple, one of the largest temple complexes in Angkor. Built by King Jayavarman VII, it once functioned as a monastery and university. The temple’s long corridors, partially reclaimed by the jungle, create a mysterious and unforgettable experience.
After lunch (at your own expense), travel to the countryside to explore the beautiful Banteay Srei Temple, often referred to as the “Citadel of Women.” This temple is renowned for its exquisite pink sandstone carvings, considered the finest and most detailed in Cambodia.
On the way from Banteay Srei, you will stop at Preah Dak village to sample local cakes or coconut before departing to watch the sunset.
Late in the afternoon, return toward the Angkor area and climb Phnom Bakheng Mountain, one of the most popular sunset viewpoints. From the top, enjoy a panoramic view over the forest and Angkor Wat as the sun sets—an unforgettable way to end your day. After sunset, return to your hotel and relax.
